Mr. Ketterman graduated from Marquette University in 1993 with a triple major in political science, philosophy, and criminology. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1996.

Mr. Ketterman also serves as an Adjunct Professor for the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he has taught Appellate Advocacy since 2002.

In 2003 and 2006, the Illinois State Bar Association awarded Mr. Ketterman the Lincoln Legal Writing Award. Mr. Ketterman was repeatedly named as one of the “Rising Stars” of the Illinois legal community by Chicago magazine and as a “Super Lawyer” in 2012.

In fall 2008, Mr. Ketterman’s first book, Collecting Employer Contributions: The ERISA Litigation Guide, was published by the International Foundation of Employee Benefits. In 2011, Mr. Ketterman authored a chapter in the seventh edition of the Foundation’s Trustee Handbook. Mr. Ketterman is a frequent presenter at Foundation institutes and annual meetings.

Mr. Ketterman also published numerous articles in various bar journals, all involving the federal practice of law. In addition, Mr. Ketterman has been quoted discussing legal events in the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, Crain’s, and on Chicago television newscasts.

Mr. Ketterman devotes his practice to representing labor organizations and multi-employer benefit trust funds in federal litigation. In the area of alternative dispute resolution, Mr. Ketterman received his Mediator credentials from Northwestern University. He serves as a court-appointed arbitrator and mediator in Cook County and Kane County state court litigation. He also is a mediator in the Western Division (Rockford) of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Mr. Ketterman serves as a member of the Federal Trial Bar. He is active in the Illinois State Bar Association, where he served as Chairman of the Federal Civil Practice Section Council and also served as the Council’s continuing education coordinator. Currently, Mr. Ketterman serves on the editorial board of the Illinois Bar Journal. Moreover, Mr. Ketterman is a member of the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association and the Federal Bar Association.

Mr. Ketterman lives in Geneva, Illinois with his wife, Samantha, and their four daughters.
